Job Opportunity
WSP is currently seeking an Industrial Hygiene / HAZMAT Project Manager for our New York City, NY office. In this role, the candidate will provide technical services by performing investigations, monitoring, and sampling of lead and asbestos related materials for clients. The candidate will also support industrial hygiene projects such as indoor air quality assessments, mold investigations, and health and safety plan development.
Work is performed in the immediate NYC area, including all 5 boroughs, Westchester and Long Island.
- Manage technician-level employees.
- Conduct asbestos and/or lead abatement monitoring and investigations.
- Frequent travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester & Long Island.
- Execute Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) assessments such as mold, IAQ, chemical assessments.
- Perform professional environmental science work and conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record required.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining findings and recommendations.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients confidently and professionally.
- Conduct research and assist with proposal development.
- Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
- Maintain current knowledge of environmental science subject matter and techniques.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or other related scientific discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of experience as an environmental scientist completing surveys, fieldwork, habitat and impact assessments, and/or construction monitoring.
- Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses.
- NYS DOL Licensed Asbestos Inspector / Project Designer and/or Asbestos Project Monitor.
- NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator.
- NYS DOL Mold Assessor.
- EPA Lead Inspector and/or Risk Assessor.
- SSPC (C3) Lead Supervisor/Competent Person for Commercial Building/Superstructures.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license; must pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Functional computer proficiency using MS-Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $86,000 - $141,900.
