Water​/Wastewater Engineer

Position Overview

Jacobs is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water team in New York and New Jersey. The role will support senior‑level engineers and project managers on municipal water, wastewater and stormwater conveyance and treatment projects throughout the region. The engineer will conduct evaluations, designs, and provide services during construction at municipal facilities.

• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver water, wastewater and stormwater design projects.
• Participate in planning, cost development, management and scheduling for assigned projects and tasks.
• Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians within the local and regional water group.
• Complete civil design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons and other technical work as required.
• Assist in the development of plans, specifications and cost estimates.
• Participate in professional organizations for marketing, industry recognition, networking and brand building.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 10 years of consulting experience for water and wastewater clients.
• Experience serving a wide variety of clients in drinking water, wastewater and stormwater conveyance systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of water and wastewater conveyance and/or treatment processes, master planning and condition assessments.
• Willingness to learn Jacobs’ proprietary tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Technical writing, reviewing and providing clear, concise input to investigations, memorandums or solutions reports.
• Working knowledge of local and state design codes and standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience in AutoCAD and ESRI ArcGIS.

• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience managing deliverables to scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience providing services during construction.
• Involvement in professional societies, community organizations or volunteer leadership roles.
• Self‑motivated initiator, demonstrated through professional society involvements or related activities.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Employees receive medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan and the option to purchase company stock at a discount.
