Patient Access Representative
Responsible for patient‑facing registration and other associated tasks such as information collection, validation, and requisitioning of orders and services. Engages in insurance‑related tasks including verification, collection of co‑payments, and gathering associated paperwork. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and protocols. Acts as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and other stakeholders for all post‑care matters related to account resolution.
PrincipalAccountabilities
- The Patient Access Representative (PAR) is the first point of contact within the health system, shaping the patient and family experience.
- Secures accurate patient information.
- Interprets and communicates patient responsibility.
- Obtains accurate patient identification, essential for financial and operational success.
- Greets customers with a smile and addresses them by name in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Attempts to resolve customer questions and concerns.
- Adapts to changes in the work environment.
- Meets shift expectations.
- Handles challenging customers.
- Obtains and verifies patient information for registration.
- Maintains contact with third‑party payers to determine reasons for outstanding claims and facilitates prompt payment.
- Requests payment of financial dues from patients or guarantors.
- Obtains federally required and hospital‑related consents in a timely manner.
- Reconciles daily bank bags and posts dues collected and/or data entry or charge codes within the financial system.
- Ensures HIPAA compliance while working in various patient settings and locations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Full time, Nights
- 11 pm – 7 am
- Every Other Weekend
- HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift more than 25 lbs if needed.
- Customer service experience.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, preferably EPIC.
- Minimum of 1 + year of experience in Patient Access, Medical Office, Health Insurance or a relevant area.
- Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Coverage (22.5 hours per week or above for full‑time and part‑time team members)
