TITLE Junior Technology Specialist -
Tier IProvide comprehensive user support for computer hardware and software including: computers and operating systems, application software, network hardware including file servers, cabling, switches, telecommunications, and all technology based electronic equipment in the school system.
QUALIFICATIONSAble to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishNot less than a high school education or equivalent high school diplomaEquivalent to completion of one year of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology, or a related field and one year successful work experience in installation, maintenance, and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the jobDesire some practical knowledge and experience with Powershell and scripting (Visual Basic, bash, shell, etc.).Knowledge of both Windows and Macintosh desktop computers and operating systems preferred.Meets the health and physical qualificationsMaintains valid driver's licenseJOB GOALTo maintain the school system technology in a condition of operating excellence so that full use of it may be made at all times. It is the duty and responsibility of the junior technology support specialist to maintain all technology based electronic equipment in the school. The junior technology support specialist is expected to make adjustments, repairs, and new installations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide technology support as required to ensure computers are setup correctly and properly interfacing with the LAN; install and configure operating system software and applications.Respond to requests for assistance on matters involving hardware/software interface and usage of application software including Internet access.Troubleshoot and diagnose computer problems with CPU's, monitors, printers, keyboards, and cabling; run diagnostic software and make adjustments to computer operating system software.Assist employees by installing operating system software, hardware, and cabling necessary to ensure computers operate properly with peripheral equipment.Assist in the installation and maintenance of the district's WAN; configure switches.Maintain list of location and status of all computer systems technology located at district sites.Perform routine maintenance and repair on audiovisual equipment.Work with Application/Database Analyst with latest district-wide software, known incompatibilities and service bulletins from vendors.Assist with the installation and maintenance of all alarm, intercom, scoreboard, closed circuit television, internal telephone additions, audio visual equipment, and computer systems and components.Install and maintain in safe condition all networking distribution panels(patch panels) and wiring configurations and systems.Assist the Communication, Security, and Alarm specialist in maintaining fire alarms, bell systems, and monitoring systems in safe and reliable working condition.Assist other trades when necessary.Keep clean and orderly work area during and after completion of job.Properly care for all assigned tools, meters, materials, and vehicles.Record all work, time and material for functions performed in work orders according to proscribed policies and procedures.Supervise and instruct student intern(s) and part-time employees in all essential job functions.Effectively communicate with manufacturer's technical support to resolve technical issues.Attentiveness to detail and accuracy.Ability to work in a team environment.Demonstrated good character, mature attitude and judgement, and stable personality with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.Self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision, organize work in an efficient manner, establish goals and objectives, prioritize work to be completed and ensure the completion of those tasks.A willingness to learn new technologies and skills as district visions evolve.Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis job may require lifting of objects that exceed 50 Ibs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 Ibs.
