Your Impact

The Prepress Setup Technician is responsible for preparing, organizing, and staging all materials required for scheduled flexographic print jobs to ensure efficient press operations and minimal downtime. This role verifies job specifications, gathers inks, plates, cylinders, and related tooling, and ensures all components are accurate, complete, and press-ready prior to production. The Prepress Setup Technician works closely with press operators, prepress, and production planning teams to maintain workflow efficiency, uphold quality standards, and support on-time job completion.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of flexographic printing materials and processes are essential for success in this position.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in EHS, training, safety observations, hazard identification, and safety committees.
  • Foster, develop, and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through all facets of the business.
  • Ensure a proactive approach to product quality, GMP's, and quality of workmanship.
  • Assemble Copy Folders/MOs/Plates/Proofs
  • Gathering all die tooling per copy folder
  • Mounting printing plates to print cylinders
  • Supplying ink, which includes ink coverage calculation and mixing ink when needed
  • Perform ink room functions, ink mixing, inventory tracking
  • Utilizing tools to measure color
  • Develop printing plates for all presses as needed
  • Organize plate storage area for narrow web and wide web
  • Utilize all equipment in the plate room including wide web plate mounter
  • Review all press schedules daily and provide all job set up carts in the order needed
What You'll Bring
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Two-year technical degree preferred
  • Two or more years' printing experience preferred
  • Good mechanical ability
  • Ability to use rulers, gauges, calipers, and other testing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to working with moving equipment
  • Effective communications and interpersonal skills to work as a team member
  • Ability to work independently and make good decisions without constant supervision
  • Well-developed work habits to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtime
  • Proficiency with computers; ability to learn and use additional programs
  • Ability to distinguish differences between finished product compared to product specifications
  • Ability to identify maintenance needs and ensure that all required preventive maintenance is performed
  • Ability to lift products up to 50 lbs. and some over that amount
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, extend, lean, and maneuver around equipment at varying heights.
