Job Summary
Join our dynamic team in Morristown, NJ, where you will have the opportunity to grow professionally while making a significant impact on patient care. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse with expertise in Labor & Delivery for a travel position.
Responsibilities- Assessment
Skills:
Demonstrate competent knowledge of all normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric, delivering appropriate patient care. Perform thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate. - Clinical
Skills:
Consistently demonstrate competent clinical skills. Perform direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept. Provide competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit. Demonstrate knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures. - Documentation:
Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Demonstrate knowledge of documentation guidelines and assume primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient’s progress in the patient’s chart, including patient education. - Professionalism:
Demonstrate professional practice responsibility. Show knowledge of policies and procedures and identify areas for clinical and professional growth. - Patient Satisfaction:
Consistently respond to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promote an environment where the patient and family are at the center. Maintain confidentiality according to HIPPA guidelines. - Safety:
Consistently follow the National Patient Safety Goals, including following Universal Protocol and identifying patients using two patient identifiers. Demonstrate safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients. - Unit Specific Job Function:
Demonstrate knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients. Individualize patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. - Responsibility and Accountability:
Contribute to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition. - Patient Education and Chart Completion:
Assess patient’s understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching. Perform pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education. - Duties Specific to PAT RN:
Support the completion of patient testing in a timely manner. Evaluate Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.
- ACLS - Required
- BLS - Required
- RN License - Required
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
