Job Description
Morristown Medical Center seeks a PER DIEM Cardiac Catheterization Lab Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The APP functions as an integral member of the interventional cardiology team, providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures including high‑risk PCIs, cardiogenic/MCS procedures, and structural heart procedures. The APP collaborates closely with interventional cardiologists, nursing staff, certified invasive specialists, and ancillary services to optimize patient outcomes across the pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedural continuum.
Responsibilities- Risk stratify inpatients and assess appropriateness and readiness of procedure
- Obtain informed consent and provide patient/family education
- Optimize medical therapy prior to procedure
- Coordinate procedural planning with physicians, floor staff, cath lab staff, and other ancillary staff
- Assist interventional cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures as credentialed
- Respond to intra‑procedural complications – act as code leader during intra‑procedure cardiac arrests
- Manage patients post‑procedure and if post‑procedure complications arise
- Assist physicians with post‑procedure orders
- Facilitate same‑day discharge planning
- Coordinate with hospitalist coverage if patients need inpatient admission
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current state licensure and national certification
- ACLS certification
- Prior cath lab experience strongly preferred or strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, coronary anatomy, and invasive procedures
- Excellent clinical judgment in high‑acuity environments
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize in fast‑paced settings
- Comfortable with invasive cardiology workflows and emergent situations
