Right of Way Specialist Position SummaryOur client is seeking an experienced Right of Way Specialist to support long-term infrastructure projects in the Morristown, NJ area. This role is responsible for analyzing and managing land and Right of Way documentation, supporting permitting and stakeholder coordination activities, and working closely with multidisciplinary project teams. The Right of Way Specialist will contribute to multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality client service.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, prepare, review, and interpret land and Right of Way–related agreements, including deeds, easements, leases, permits, and licenses.
- Complete rights and restrictions reviews for project properties.
- Support and complete permitting requirements as needed for assigned projects.
- Research, collect, and review real property–related documents.
- Interpret and apply easement agreements to project activities.
- Support the translation of data from Right of Way documents into the stakeholder management database.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of stakeholder management database entries completed by Right of Way field agents.
- Compile and prepare technical data for presentation to the Right of Way project team.
- Provide support to project managers, design engineers, environmental consultants, GIS mapping specialists, vegetation management teams, Right of Way managers, and real estate coordinators as required.
- Attend and participate in public open houses and community meetings as requested.
- Support client needs and requests as directed.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently while meeting schedules and quality expectations.
- Work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience in Right of Way acquisition, relocation, eminent domain, project management, or real estate;
or - Associate's degree and six (6) years of relevant experience;
or - High School Diploma and eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and interpret complex property and Right of Way information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and task tracking or project management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse teams and skill sets.
- Well-organized with the ability to track and manage multiple project efforts simultaneously.
- Team-oriented mindset with a strong focus on client service.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to meet requirements to qualify for and maintain company vehicle driving privileges in accordance with applicable motor vehicle safety policies.
- Experience supporting electric utility facilities or railroad projects.
- Familiarity with Google Earth and construction drawings.
- Designation or certification from the International Right of Way Association (IRWA).
