Overview
Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is seeking an Educator to join our nursing leadership team. The role is under the direction of the manager of nursing education and entails leading the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of employee education and training.
The educator serves as a clinical resource, teacher, and facilitator for staff nurses, LNA’s, and PCA’s in patient care and clinical practice. Working with nurse leaders and clinical staff, the educator helps advance nursing competency, ensures quality bedside care, and contributes to nursing care audits, quality improvement initiatives, training programs, and special projects. The educator promotes evidence-based practice and serves as a role model.
This position is Full‑Time (partial‑time options available). Copley Hospital offers a variety of shifts across full‑time, part‑time, and per diem needs. Compensation ranges from $34‑38 per hour, with potential adjustments based on experience, education, skills, and market data.
Responsibilities- Acts as a clinical resource, teacher, and facilitator for staff nurses, LNA’s, and PCA’s regarding patient care and clinical practice.
- Collaborates with nurse leaders and clinical staff to advance nursing competency and ensure quality bedside care.
- Assists in developing and implementing nursing care audits, quality improvement initiatives, training programs, and special projects.
- Promotes evidence‑based practice and serves as a role model.
- Responds to just‑in‑time education requests at the bedside.
- Provides advice and guidance to resolve complex patient‑care problems.
- Encourages and supports professional development and specialty certifications.
- Promotes critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for staff.
- Uses the Nursing Process as the foundation for all education and training.
- Develops and delivers orientation programs for RN, LNA, LPN, patient‑care assistant, sitter, and nursing‑assistant training programs.
- Participates in and leads nursing practice work groups, projects, and committees.
- Utilizes adult learning theory and demonstrates outcome‑based education.
- Maintains flexibility with hours to support all clinical staff.
- Collaborates with IT and informatics teams to provide ongoing education.
- Partners with Infection Prevention to educate on personal protective equipment and infection‑control practices.
- Presents in‑services, classes, and learning labs to clinical employees, including providers.
- Incorporates quality concepts into nursing practice.
- Researches and develops standards of practice for specific patient populations as appropriate.
- Serves as a resource on new equipment use and participates in equipment‑purchase decisions.
- Facilitates difficult or complex nursing procedures.
- Educates nurses on legal documentation practices in accordance with Copley policy, utilizing nursing informatics skills.
- Maintains and enhances clinical skills, including critical care knowledge.
Education Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Desired
Experience Requirements:
- Clinical nursing experience in an acute‑care hospital setting.
- Experience in medical–surgical, progressive care, emergency, or peri‑operative settings.
License Requirements:
- Current Vermont nursing licensure in good standing with no restrictions.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
