Design Engineering Manager

Description

Supervise design engineers in Labwerx US, review and approve specifications, drawings and test plans. Schedule, forecast and monitor custom hardware requests and deliveries.;
Review user requirements and prepare cost and specification estimates for customized hardware parts.;
Consult with Sales to confirm design specifications.;
Develop a drawing package for new hardware design that includes the hardware drawing, specifications, test plan, and hardware documentation following company policies and procedures.;
Respond to questions from hardware manufacturer (vendor).;
Test the hardware according to test plan.;
Generate and maintain SOPs, templates and forms in order to support the requirements of the Tecan US Quality and Regulatory guidelines within Labwerx US, and specifically Engineering.;
Understand and interpret regulations and guidelines applicable to the Business Unit.;
Handle essential tasks as assigned, and respond to change productively.;
Follow all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and report any safety concerns.

Skills & Qualifications

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or minimum 8 years related experience;
Technical management experience desirable;
Proven ability to work effectively with customers;
Ability to manage time effectively, especially the ability to estimate time to completion;
Ability to work well under pressure, to multi task;
Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups inside and outside of the organization;
Dependability is a must for this position;
Excellent written and oral communication skills (including legible handwriting);
Ability to prioritize;

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
