Location and SalaryFull‑time, onsite, Chemistry Associate Scientist 1 located in Morrisville, NC. Compensation: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour.
SummaryResponsible for providing or overseeing the analysis, administration and oversight of standard chemistry policies, programs and practices; feedback and guidance regarding the analysis of samples using fundamental professional and technical knowledge of chemistry or related instrumentation, testing, and procedures.
Essential Functions- Provide fundamental analysis in support of standard testing materials, products and/or devices utilizing standard analytical instrumentation; follow Standard Operating Procedures and methods to perform testing.
- Provide fundamental review, analysis, interpretation, and documentation of testing results.
- Oversee, review, complete, and process various types of standard chemistry forms, documents, databases, and related materials and information.
- Provide fundamental analysis and interpretation and counsel to staff, management and functional leaders regarding chemistry policies, programs and practices; involve standard operations.
- Provide standard research, feedback and decisions to resolve management and employee questions and requirements; assist with receiving customer feedback and coordinating resources and responses as required.
- Analyze and review process, results, feedback and related chemistry information on an ongoing or as needed basis to determine trends, draw conclusions, interpret findings and present results, proposals and recommendations to management.
- Ensure the accuracy of fundamental tests, equipment, actions, procedures and operational databases, reports and related details through audits, queries and operational reviews; work with teams to resolve discrepancies; resolve or escalates discrepancies to ensure quality assurance in testing process/results.
- Assist with developing or participating in chemistry or cross‑functional project or program objectives, which includes proposed budgets, timelines, materials, personnel and other project requirements, receive direction and present information to management.
- Clean, maintain, prepare, and calibrate equipment, samples and related areas.
- Interpret and apply department policies and procedures and assist with applicable laws, rules and regulations; receive guidance within these areas as needed.
- Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Promote and support the overall mission by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; act in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Knowledge- Fundamental principles, practices and techniques of chemistry.
- Standard understanding of the administration and oversight of chemistry programs, policies and procedures.
- Fundamental methods to resolve chemistry problems, questions and concerns.
- Standard understanding of applicable chemistry laws, codes and regulations.
- Understanding of standard testing tools, instruments and calibration.
- Computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and systems related to the work.
- Principles and practices to serve as an effective project team member.
- Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers and customers to ensure safe, effective and appropriate operations.
- Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Perform fundamental professional‑level chemistry duties in a variety of assigned areas.
- Oversee and administer standard chemistry functions.
- Train others in policies and procedures related to the work.
- Serve as a team member and develop and manage projects.
- Operate in both a team and individual‑contributor environment.
