Position Overview
Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) Senior Technology Sales Engineer Rep is an inside technical sales expert for Lenovo's Data Center product line as a member of the Lenovo Expert Technical Sales (LETS) team.
The role involves responding to technical requests—solution design, build configurations, demos, and more—from Lenovo Sales, Lenovo Technical Sales, and partners to drive and progress sales opportunities.
Candidate must reside within the Northeast US (New England) territory.
Responsibilities- Architect solutions for the Data Center from the Lenovo portfolio of products and partnerships, including AI Servers and HPC Clusters.
- Build configurations, conduct systems management demos, and review interoperability and technical issues to meet client solution needs.
- Drive and support sales to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Contribute to technical responses for proposal requests.
- Assist/train channel partners with tool usage and technical direction.
- Design and size HPC and AI infrastructure solutions that balance compute, accelerator (GPU, DPU), memory, storage, networking, power, cooling, and management requirements for customer workloads.
- Advise customers and partners on HPC cluster architecture, including CPU and GPU node selection, high‑speed interconnects, parallel storage, job schedulers, systems management, and deployment considerations.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a technical sales role or 5+ years as a Data Center systems administrator.
- Knowledge of VMware, Linux, Hyper‑V, Windows Server, Net App Storage, Azure, Nutanix, and systems management products.
- Knowledge of x86 servers and storage arrays; added consideration for Lenovo Servers and Storage.
- Working knowledge of HPC cluster building blocks—compute nodes, GPU acceleration, Infini Band or high‑speed Ethernet fabrics, shared storage, and Linux‑based cluster environments.
- Proven track record in designing winning major server, networking, and/or storage solutions for Data Center clients.
- Excellent consultative selling skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, active listening, and adaptive presentation skills.
- Self‑starter capable of driving technical collaboration across diverse customer and internal groups.
- Experience architecting server and desktop virtualization, software‑defined solutions, backup and continuity solutions, systems management, server consolidation, sizing solutions, and data center operations.
- Experience designing or operating HPC clusters.
- Experience designing HPC environments with workload managers (Slurm, PBS, LSF), parallel file systems (Lustre, BeeGFS, IBM Storage Scale), and high‑performance networking technologies.
- Familiarity with GPU‑accelerated computing, MPI‑based applications, containerized HPC/AI workflows, and performance considerations for tightly coupled scientific and engineering workloads.
These roles are based within the Northeast US (New England) territory, including Massachusetts (Boston, Springfield, Worcester, Cambridge), New Hampshire (Manchester), and Vermont (Hartford). The base salary range budgeted for this position in CA, CO, CT, DC, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, OR, RI, WA is $115,000–$130,000 annually. Bonuses and commissions may also be considered.
