Clinical/Technical Responsibilities
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and testing according to protocol.
  • Assist in contacting insurance companies to obtain appropriate insurance authorizations for all testing and medications as needed.
  • Work closely with patients to communicate any changes and/or concerns.
  • Schedule/track appointments according to protocol and insurance needs.
  • Inform provider of any patient or clinician concerns while in the process of scheduling patient for testing (e.g., hospital pre‑testing issues, medical clearance issues, etc).
  • Assist patient in the achievement of identified goals by carrying out the prescribed plan of care.
  • Demonstrate patient advocacy by assuring a patient's right to privacy, safety and confidentiality.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills by participating in relevant educational and training programs.
  • Respond flexibly to changing demands.
  • Meet environmental responsibilities as assigned, including setting up equipment according to department protocols; cleaning exam/procedure rooms and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; and restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  • Fulfills clinical responsibilities, including checking vital signs; physical examination preparations; prescription verifications with physician’s orders; biohazard waste disposal and monitoring; laboratory procedures following OSHA guidelines; quality control methods; EKG testing; completing lab draws; emergency first aid.
  • Monitor medication, and laboratory supplies, coordinating with CMH hospital departments as appropriate.

  • Participates effectively as a member of the healthcare team.

  • Clinic Financial Responsibilities:
    Participate in performance improvement activities by identifying opportunities for improvement, offering solutions and supporting changes.
  • Uses resources efficiently.
  • Utilizes Community Memorial Hospital's property and supplies appropriately and prudently to maximize cost effectiveness of procedures, conserve resources and minimize waste.
  • Reviews e‑bills and captures all services performed.
Clinic Health Information Management Responsibilities
  • Offer and receive feedback on own performance and on the quality of patient care delivered.
  • Use feedback to improve practice and patient care.
  • Consistently ensure that patient information is kept private and confidential.
Job Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program is required.
  • Previous nursing and ambulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, pain management, emergency situations, fire safety, performance improvement and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Chart, Meaningful Use reports and Performance Improvement reports.
  • Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques as applicable.
  • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
  • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Credentials.
  • Current NYS licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
