Primary Purpose Of The Quality Technician
The Quality Technician supports SCHUNK’s Quality Management System in accordance with customer and company requirements. This role supports quality achievement, performance improvement, inspection activities, documentation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
What You Will Do- Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
- Support management quality goals, strategies, and processes.
- Support and assist with Quality Management System procedures, including standard procedures, quality documentation, and alignment with SCHUNK’s Global Quality Management System.
- Promote safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Work closely with operating staff, other departments, and other SCHUNK plants as needed to support quality procedures and overall quality improvement.
- Support quality-related training for employees at all levels.
- Conduct inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform tests and measurements using precision instruments and equipment.
- Document and report inspection results, non-conformities, and deviations from quality standards.
- Collaborate with teams to address quality issues and support containment, corrective, and preventative actions.
- Support customer complaint handling, including 8D reports.
- Support supplier complaints and calibration of inspection equipment.
- Facilitate internal audits at a regular frequency.
- Support Operational Excellence initiatives, including data collection, scrap/rework tracking, time studies, floor path diagrams, dashboards, Kaizen events, controlled process trials, and small-scale continuous improvement projects under supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Technical or Associate degree in a related field OR four (4) years of experience in a quality control environment OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write detailed reports and work instructions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting ISO-based Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with quality inspections, calibration activities, audits, and corrective action processes.
- Experience participating in continuous improvement, Operational Excellence, or Kaizen initiatives.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Microsoft 365 experience preferred.
- German language skills are a plus.
