Overview
At Northrop Grumman, our employees have opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people’s lives around the world. We are looking for a Database Engineer Level 3 or Level 4 located in Morrisville, NC. The position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
The role involves applying standards, processes, and tools throughout the software development lifecycle, diagnosing integration issues, and delivering fixes or enhancements in a fast‑paced, Linux‑based, client‑server environment. The candidate must be a multitasking team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and contractors.
The position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.
Clearance required:
Top‑Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) with active Counterintelligence Polygraph.
Travel required:
10% of the time.
- Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
- Diagnose problems during application integration among products and address fixes or enhancements according to program processes.
- Develop application software in a Linux environment, using relational databases; knowledge of client‑server applications is beneficial.
- Work in an extremely dynamic and challenging environment on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Adapt to fast‑paced environments and multitask with good time‑management skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – or Master’s degree with 3 years – or PhD with 1 year; or consider 4+ additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Active U.S. Government Top‑Secret/SCI clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an active Counterintelligence Polygraph at time of application.
- Experience designing and implementing data warehousing technologies, including relational databases, SQL, and data analytics.
- Experience implementing Influx
DB, Dynamo
DB, and Postgre
SQL database systems running on Linux. - Experience in full lifecycle project development.
- Experience scripting in bash, PLSQL, or Python for efficient automation scripts and database operations.
- Experience working on Agile teams.
- Current Security+ certification or equivalent.
- Experience documenting design, processes, and procedures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline, Bitbucket, Git, Jira.
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – or Master’s degree with 6 years – or PhD with 4 years; or consider 4+ additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

- Systems administration experience, including Windows, Linux, and VM environments.
Primary Level Salary Range: $ – $. Secondary Level Salary Range: $ – $. Compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and Long‑Term Incentives for senior positions.
