Job Summary

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Clayton State University invites applications for a full
¿ time, non
¿ tenure¿track Lecturer position in English, beginning August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will teach first
¿ year writing, lower
¿ division literature survey courses, and upper
¿ division majors courses as needed. This academic
¿ year appointment reports to the Chair of the Department of English. Salary will be commensurate with experience and competitive with comparable programs.

The Department of English offers undergraduate degrees and minors in English, with coursework in creative and professional writing, literature, and secondary education. The department also delivers first
¿ year writing and literature survey courses within the general education curriculum and contributes English coursework to two graduate programs: the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and the Master of Arts in Teaching in English. Required Qualifications

* An earned Ph.D. in English; ABD candidates with a firm dissertation defense date may be considered

* A record of successful college-level teaching at the undergraduate level

* Professional development, education, scholarship, and/or experience in teaching first-year writing

* Knowledge of the application of technology to enhance teaching and learning

* Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

* Evidence of willingness to engage in ongoing professional development in the field

Preferred Qualifications

* Commitment to teaching first-generation college students;

* Evidence of scholarship in teaching and learning;

* Evidence of successful literature survey courses;

* Evidence of successful experience teaching online and/or eportfolio assessment.
