STEM Instructor
Instructs students (Pre-K, elementary or middle) using effective STEM instruction, integration, and project/problem-based learning activities designed to increase student engagement and achievement. Engages a diverse STEM community, partners, industry leaders to support and sustain STEM programs and initiatives. Supports the procurement of STEM-based grants to support, enhance, and sustain STEM initiatives in the school. Supports school-based STEM labs that provide educational opportunities that support STEM literacy and builds 21st century skills.
This position reports to the Principal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructs students, using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to the specific content field.
- Assigns lessons and corrects assignments; administers assessments to evaluate students' progress, and records results. Maintains discipline in classroom. Supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty). Must maintain a culturally responsive and relevant, positive learning environment.
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student's progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
- All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
Key
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's, Master's, Specialist's, and/or Doctorate degree in Education required, with a minimum of a 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale. K-5 Math endorsement, K-5 Science endorsement, or STEM endorsement preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience preferred.
- Execute a focus on student outcomes, instructional impacts and student performances. Makes recommendations or decisions which usually affect the entire department/school.
- GaPSC Certification at a level 4 or higher in Middle Grades Math, Middle Grades Science, or Elementary Education required.
- Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel.
- Requires regular, frequent communication with different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community etc.
- Excellent classroom management required. May be designated as a lead teacher or trainer.
- Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations.
- Normal classroom/school setting.
- Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day.
