Job DescriptionInstructs students (Pre‑K, elementary or middle) using effective STEM instruction, integration, and project/problem‑based learning activities designed to increase student engagement and achievement. Engages a diverse STEM community, partners and industry leaders to support and sustain STEM programs and initiatives. Supports procurement of STEM‑based grants to enhance and sustain STEM initiatives in the school. Supports school‑based STEM labs that provide educational opportunities that support STEM literacy and build 21st‑century skills.
This position reports to the Principal.
- Instructs students using various teaching methods such as lecture, audiovisual aids, demonstration and other materials to supplement presentations relative to the specific content field.
- Assigns lessons and corrects assignments, administers assessments to evaluate students’ progress, and records results. Maintains discipline in classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch/cafeteria, rest room duty). Must maintain a culturally responsive and relevant, positive learning environment.
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
- All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, Specialist’s, and/or Doctorate degree in Education required, with a minimum of a 2.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Preferred endorsements: K‑5 Math, K‑5 Science, or STEM.
- Preferred minimum of one (1) year teaching experience.
- GaPSC Certification at a level 4 or higher in Middle Grades Math, Middle Grades Science, or Elementary Education required.
- Execute a focus on student outcomes, instructional impacts, and student performances.
- Varied responsibilities; supervisor reviews established broad objectives; independent judgment required.
- Requires regular, frequent communication with internal school administrative personnel and different constituencies: external agencies, parents, community.
- Excellent classroom management required; may be designated as lead teacher or trainer.
- Applies, recommends and implements technology to improve the effectiveness of school operations.
- Normal classroom/school setting. Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one‑half (7½) hours per day.
