Spivey Hall Young Artists Choir Director

Job SummarySupport the Spivey Hall Children's Choir (SHCC) Program by directing the Spivey Hall Young Artists (SHYA) choir. Founded in 2002, the SHYA features 50-60 treble singers aged 10-13. Rehearsing each Monday evening from 6:30-8 pm, the SHYA serves as the preparatory choir of the SHCC Program, equipping singers with the skills they need to participate in the Spivey Hall Children's Choir.
Responsibilities50% (1) Plan and conduct weekly rehearsals which include teaching sight singing (solfege) and ear training/theory, and develop musicianship in the choir students through appropriate repertoire. 10% (2) Select repertoire, prepare and conduct the SHYA for scheduled performances (two per year) with the SHCC. 5% (3) Represent the interests of the SHYA through attendance at SHCCP staff meetings and participation in SHCCP functions.
5% (4) Audition and assist in the selection of singers. 10% (5) Communicate regularly with parents of SHYA members. 5% (6) Supervise the SHYA accompanist. 5% (7) Report to the director of SHCC and work as a team member, representing CSU, Spivey Hall, and the choir program in all external communications. 10% (8) Under the oversight of the Spivey Hall Education Manager plan and direct one-week Spivey Hall Summer Music June day camp
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in music with a choral emphasis or a combination of education and experience.
Preferred QualificationsThree plus years of Children's Choir experience.
