Health and Safety Representative

Clean Harbors in Morrow, GA is looking for a Health and Safety Representative to join their safety conscious team. The Health and Safety Representative is responsible for providing complete, thorough, and professional health, safety and environmental advice within the corporation, including providing effective recommendations based on legislation, education, training, and industry best practices for assigned sites, regions, divisions, and/or corporate entities.

The role promotes a positive safety culture while continually anticipating and assessing safety and health hazards that may be encountered to ensure that risks are effectively eliminated or controlled. Responsibilities include guiding company management and employees with the compliance demands of the corporate health and safety program, the client’s safety program, and governing workplace or occupational health and safety regulations.

The Representative drives corrective actions, initiates health and safety system enhancements, facilitates training, writes policy and procedures, provides essential information during emergencies, and maintains safety program administrative records suitable for audit purposes for the projects or sites assigned.

Position requires a field presence of 90% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Coach supervisory teams to further enhance their safety responsibility, performance, and leadership support role.
  • Provide leadership and advice for maintaining OSH (OSHA) compliance, including supporting managerial personnel and employees to identify and address health and safety hazards to meet program needs.
  • Assist and coach site management to perform safety functions such as investigations, safety meetings, safe work procedure development/revision, job hazard assessments, and worker safety education.
  • Promote a positive safety culture within assigned region(s) or organizational entities.
  • Guide management with the implementation and administration of corporate safety compliance program directives and provisions, advising on safety‑conscious decisions in support of company, client, and subcontractor personnel.
  • Assist operational organizations with project planning, review and assistance with job hazard assessments, preparation of safe work plans, and safety assessment checklists.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and consult with company, subcontractor, and client personnel to ensure health and safety compliance with client site policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Interact with assigned organizational entity, customers, subcontractors, and regulatory agency personnel to research and interpret standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Audit training records of company personnel to ensure minimum training requirements are met.
  • Facilitate in‑house training programs in areas such as new hire orientation, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, and respirator fit testing, including developing, coordinating, and administering safety training.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety devices, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform periodic audits and document base inspections and routine field inspections, including auditing company and subcontractor activities to ensure conformity to the health and safety program.
  • Establish a safety network with client safety departments and local governmental and regulatory officials and personnel.
  • Serve on applicable site health & safety committees, attend client meetings, and communicate meeting information to company management.
  • Notify health and safety management of any severe accident, property damage, or incident, providing nature, extent, and details.
