PACKAGING TECHNICIAN Food Safety Role & Responsibility
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP, facility security, visitor policy and mandatory safety training.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
SummaryPackaging Technician is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing and modifying all processing, packaging and facility equipment with optimal quality and efficiency.
Job Function Statements - Essential FunctionsPhysical Requirements

The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time (duration of the shift, 8 hours or more); walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; bend continuously; or crawl. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders or step up onto a platform several times throughout the shift; and is occasionally required to sit.
The employee must be able to push/pull/lift and/or move 50 pounds. The incumbent must operate light motorized equipment, hand and power tools skillfully and safely.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/cold conditions of 34 - 36 degrees and also at times hot conditions; high, precarious places (ex: 25 feet above ground level for extended hours); and outside weather conditions (rooftop). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud, which may require hearing protection.
Additional AbilitiesMinimum 2-4 year s experience with industrial, high-speed processing, packaging, weighing, filling and inspection equipment OR minimum one-year technical training/school.
Education/TrainingHigh School diploma or equivalency (such as a technical degree) required; specific technical training to support the Maintenance Skills Summary.
