Responsibilities
Assists with compensation claims, victim impact statements and advises of available resources based on the Victim Bill of Rights. Knowledge of the judicial process with respect to victims’ rights and case filings; serves as a liaison between victims, investigators, prosecutors and court personnel. Maintains ongoing contact with victims via telephone, email or mail to provide support and keep them abreast of the case status.
QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling or a related field and two years of experience working in criminal justice, social services, crisis intervention, or trauma and violence safety assessment and planning is preferred. All candidates are subject to a background check, fingerprinting, criminal history background check, motor vehicle driver’s history check, and pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of each investigation.
Preferred Qualifications- Superior customer service skills, positive attitude, personal responsibility and a strong sense of responsibility to the community.
- Ability to prioritize and organize a caseload.
- Knowledge of the Crime Victims Bill of Rights.
- Skill in oral and written communication; and use of computers and related software programs.
