Position OverviewSales and Use Tax Manager will lead the strategy and execution of sales and use tax compliance across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely filings, managing audits, mitigating risk, and serving as a key advisor to cross‑functional partners. In addition to compliance, this position will play a critical role in process optimization, system implementations, and delivering actionable tax insights that support broader business initiatives.
This is a hybrid role based in the Chicagoland area.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Compliance & Audit Management
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all sales and use tax returns
- Manage tax inbox, data requests, and inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Lead sales and use tax audits, including preparation, negotiation with tax authorities, and risk mitigation
- Technical & Strategic Support
- Research complex sales and use tax issues and provide guidance to internal partners
- Support corporate tax strategy through analysis and proactive risk assessment
- Systems & Process Improvement
- Assist with implementation and testing of SAP S/4
HANA - Support deployment of an Exemption Certificate Management system
- Identify and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist with implementation and testing of SAP S/4
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Finance, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, IT, and other teams
- Manage external consultants and lead tax‑related corporate initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of public accounting experience
, including 5+ years focused on sales and use tax - Strong proficiency with SAP S/4
HANA - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- VAT experience is a plus
- Strong technical expertise in indirect tax
- Confident communicator who can partner effectively across the business
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and process‑driven
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
