Safety Coordinator (Multi‑Site Facilities)

Department: Operations / HR

Reports To: Vice President of Human Resources

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and initiatives across multiple facility locations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position involves frequent travel between facilities to conduct inspections, audits, and employee training.

Key Responsibilities Program Development & Compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies across all sites, aligned with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular facility safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of OSHA standards and industry best practices; serve as a subject matter expert for safety matters.
  • Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Risk Assessments for all departments and ensure corrective actions are implemented timely.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lockout/Tagout procedures, and confined space programs.
Training & Engagement
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain safety training programs for new hires, supervisors, and employees (e.g., PPE, ergonomics, emergency response, forklift safety, etc.).
  • Partner with Operations leaders to ensure annual compliance training and documentation are completed and tracked.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, safety committees, and recognition programs.
  • Coordinate safety drills, including fire, evacuation, and spill response, ensuring readiness at all facilities.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near‑misses; document findings, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety records and metrics (e.g., OSHA 300 logs, incident rates, training records).
  • Prepare safety performance reports for leadership review, highlighting trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with HR on Workers’ Compensation claims, light‑duty placement, and return‑to‑work programs.
  • Collaborate with Plant Management to improve workplace ergonomics, process safety, and employee well‑being.
  • Drive standardization of safety processes across all facilities to ensure consistency and best‑practice alignment.
  • Support sustainability, environmental, and wellness initiatives that contribute to overall employee health and safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Completed OSHA 10HR/Has or will complete OSHA 30HR.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in safety coordination or EHS roles, in food manufacturing or multi‑site operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety program development, and industrial safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with safety management systems or compliance software preferred.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between facilities (up to 25–40%).
