Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers.

As a Parts Record Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy by monitoring, analyzing, and reconciling inventory data across multiple systems. In this role, you will investigate discrepancies between inventory records, determine appropriate inventory adjustments, and ensure those adjustments are accurately processed and posted to the general ledger. You will play a key role in inventory management by tracking inventory transactions, supporting data integrity, and helping ensure accurate inventory reporting across the organization.

This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation. This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday. This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules. This role requires up to 10% domestic travel.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain accurate computerized inventory records and inventory transaction data.
  • Analyze and reconcile inventory data across multiple systems to identify discrepancies and ensure record accuracy.
  • Investigate inventory variances and determine appropriate inventory adjustments based on data analysis and established procedures.
  • Process inventory adjustments that impact financial records and the general ledger.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing inventory activity, ensuring inventory integrity and traceability.
  • Generate and distribute reports related to expedited orders and inventory activity.
  • Ensure compliance with established internal control procedures, inventory policies, and audit requirements.
  • Support inventory accuracy initiatives through ongoing analysis, reconciliation, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory issues and improve inventory management processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inventory transactions, adjustments, and reconciliation activities.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail:
    Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Inventory Management - MFG:
    Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
  • Planning and Organizing:
    Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Problem Solving:
    Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
