Position: Small Engine Technician

Blain's Farm & Fleet is seeking a skilled Small Engine Technician to service and repair outdoor power equipment for our Midwest customers. In this hands-on, shop-based role, you'll diagnose and fix small engines on mowers, snow blowers, generators, and more, performing tune-ups, adjustments, and full repairs. You'll use diagnostic tools, follow manufacturer specs, and keep accurate service records while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Working with a friendly, team-oriented crew, you'll help customers understand needed repairs and options. Blain's offers training, advancement opportunities, and a stable, community-focused environment built on Midwestern values.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair small engines for outdoor power equipment (mowers, snow blowers, generators, etc.)
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tune-ups, blade sharpening, and belt replacements
  • Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
  • Estimate repair costs, document work performed, and maintain accurate service records
  • Ensure safe, clean, and organized work area in the service shop
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service and explain repairs in clear terms
  • Follow company and manufacturer standards for quality and safety
  • Assist with parts identification, ordering, and inventory for repairs
  • Collaborate with store and service team members to meet customer and productivity goals
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay current on products and repair techniques
