Maintenance Mechanic – Caterpillar

Location: Morton Distribution Center, Morton, Illinois

Shift: Weekday 2nd Shift – Monday – Friday 3:00pm – 11:00pm
Weekday 3rd Shift – Sunday night – Friday morning 11:00pm – 7:00am

Pay Rate: $35.81 per hour plus $1.00 per hour shift differential (for 2nd and 3rd shift)

Key Responsibilities include:

• Adjusting, installing, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining equipment like piping systems, machine drives, power conveyors, motors, and cranes.
• Performing on‑site repairs of hydraulic systems, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
• Utilizing machine tools, welding, cutting, soldering, and other technical skills to complete jobs.
• Diagnosing mechanical malfunctions and determining corrective procedures.
• Using precision checking tools such as lasers and portable power tools for precise alignments.
• Working from sketches and blueprints to design, lay out, and fabricate special parts and equipment.

Physical Requirements:

• This position involves working near high‑voltage electricity, molten metal, heavy equipment, and in confined or elevated spaces. Physical fitness is essential to safely perform these tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical degree or diploma in a related field.
• Machine shop experience and a strong mechanical aptitude.
