Position Summary
The Licensed/License-Eligible Clinical Counselor provides clinical counseling based on biblical principles and in support of the doctrine and traditions of the Apostolic Christian Church of America.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Have and maintain a consistent Christian walk that is above reproach before the world.
• Have a servant's spirit, a learner's mind, and an appreciation for the diversity of gifts and talents in the Body of Believers.
• Be fully committed to the study of God's word, sound in biblical doctrine and in opposition of false doctrine.
• Provide individual, marital, family, and group therapy, as needed.
• Perform assessments that include diagnostic interviewing, referrals for testing, and treatment planning to address the client's issues.
• Provide consultations to people seeking information about mental health issues or relationship problems in themselves or others.
• Participate in the development and sharing of informational content to support the agency and the church denomination.
• Participate in providing information and mentoring to people from the Apostolic Christian Church pursuing mental health-related education.
Performs other duties as assigned; responsibilities may be adjusted as organizational needs evolve.
Qualifications
Church/Spiritual Qualifications
• Active member in good standing in the Apostolic Christian Church of America, with local elder approval.
• Commitment to serving the full spectrum of ACCA membership across all congregations.
• Support the ACCA Statement of Faith and Statement on Marriage and Sexuality.
• Models a lifestyle and character that reflects Christian values in both personal conduct and professional leadership.
• Collaborative, servant-hearted leadership style.
Professional Requirements
• Master's degree in counseling or a closely related field from an accredited academic institution.
• Licensed in the State of Illinois or actively pursuing licensure.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to become proficient in telehealth and electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times, stressful environment.
• Meets all legal requirements for employment and authorization to work.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Occasional travel may be required.
