Accounting Specialist – Payroll, AP & Compliance
We are seeking a full‑time Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for owning the company’s payroll, benefits administration, accounts payable, and sales tax compliance functions. The ideal candidate is process‑driven and comfortable working across systems to ensure accurate financial operations.

ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Benefits Administration
- Process bi‑monthly payroll accurately and on time using Gusto
- Review payroll outputs, tax filings, and W‑2s to ensure accuracy
- Maintain employee payroll records, earnings, deductions, and benefit elections
- Administer employee onboarding and offboarding in payroll and benefits systems
- Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and annual open enrollment cycles
Accounts Payable
- Own the full accounts payable cycle from invoice intake through payment
- Code and enter invoices accurately into Quick Books
- Manage approval workflows and ensure proper documentation is maintained
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs and maintain vendor records
- Support 1099 preparation and year‑end reporting
Sales Tax Compliance
- Maintain and update sales tax settings and tax tables in Quick Books
- Prepare and file periodic sales tax returns accurately and on time
- Stay current on state‑specific requirements and nexus considerations
- 3+ years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Hands‑on experience with payroll and accounts payable
- Familiarity with multi‑state sales tax requirements
- Ability to interact well with employees and vendors
- Experience with Gusto and Quick Books
- Process‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions
