Position SummaryThe University of Idaho Extension Eastern District seeks a 12‑month, tenure‑track Extension Educator with the rank of Assistant Professor for Bear Lake County, providing leadership in multifaceted livestock (50%), agriculture (30%), and 4‑H Youth Development (20%) programs. The role involves collaborating closely with county partners, commissioners, and community organizations to ensure programs meet local needs and align with University and Extension priorities.
The position includes conducting scholarly work (5%) and contributing to University leadership and service, including county chair duties (15%). The position receives an annual flat‑rate administrative stipend of $1,500 for County Chair duties.
- Collaborate with county partners, commissioners, and community organizations to design and deliver livestock, agriculture, and 4‑H programs that meet local needs.
- Conduct scholarly work (e.g., research, publications) to support program innovation and effectiveness.
- Serve as County Chair, providing leadership and governance for county Extension activities.
- Deliver instructional and outreach activities to diverse audiences, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats.
- Use technology for program delivery, reporting, and team‑based communication.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and travel as required within the county.
- Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
- Lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. as necessary for program activities.
Minimum Education
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in animal science, agricultural science, Extension education, or a closely related discipline, completed by the date of hire.
- Experience providing organizational structure and support for a variety of individuals and groups.
- Experience in adapting research materials for effective oral and written presentations.
- Experience recruiting, teaching, organizing, and managing groups.
- Experience using technology for program delivery, reporting, and team‑based communication.
- Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, and marketing for programs.
- Previous experience working in Extension.
- Experience disseminating results through scholarly outlets.
- Experience supervising, leading, and mentoring others.
- Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 lbs.
