Position Overview

The Assistant Director for Admissions (Recruitment) implements the University of Idaho recruitment and conversion initiatives for prospective and admitted undergraduate students. The role acts as the primary contact for high schools and regional community colleges in assigned geographic areas, conducting recruiting activities across selected regions. Responsibilities include representing the university at college nights, fairs, tours, financial aid nights, and visits to high schools and community colleges;

following up with contacts; tracking and analyzing the student market; maintaining comprehensive knowledge of UI programs, degrees, admissions requirements, and institutional data; and independently managing a recruitment budget.

Required Experience
  • Experience compiling and analyzing information and data for reporting
  • Experience planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing programs for large and small groups
  • Experience composing a variety of business documents
  • Experience speaking publicly to large and small groups
  • Experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches and data organization
  • Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree
Required Other
  • Willingness and ability to travel for several weeks in the fall and in the spring
  • Ability to work irregular hours including selected evenings and weekends
  • Must obtain and maintain professional memberships and certifications as assigned and budget allows, as designated by supervisors
Additional Preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in student counseling, education, business or public relations, or other related field
Experience (Additional)
  • Experience working in an admissions office
  • Experience operating audio/visual/video equipment and general computer proficiency
  • Extensive experience in recruiting, public relations, sales, marketing, or a related field
Knowledge Of
  • Good knowledge of service standards and practices to support prospective and current students
  • Knowledge of Idaho and the University of Idaho
  • General knowledge about University of Idaho programs, majors, services, requirements, restrictions, and costs
Ability To
  • Learn admissions and financial aid requirements and deadlines for high school and transfer students
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team to accomplish shared goals
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
Degree Requirement

Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
