Position: Extension Educator - Bear Lake County: Livestock, Agriculture and 4-H Youth Development

Position Summary

The University of Idaho Extension Eastern District seeks a 12‑month, tenure‑track Extension Educator with the rank of Assistant Professor for Bear Lake County, providing leadership for multifaceted livestock (50%), agriculture (30%), and 4‑H Youth Development (20%) programs. The educator will collaborate closely with county partners, commissioners, and community organizations to ensure programs meet local needs and align with University and Extension priorities.

Responsibilities include scholarly work (5%) and contributing to University leadership and service, including County Chair duties (15%).

Off Campus Location - Bear Lake County, Montpelier, Idaho

Unit

Eastern District, College of Agricultural & Life Sciences

Funding and Support

Annual flat‑rate administrative stipend of $1,500 for County Chair duties.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in animal science, agricultural science, Extension education, or a closely related discipline, completed by date of hire.
  • Experience providing organizational structure and support for individuals and groups.
  • Experience adapting research materials for effective oral and written presentations.
  • Experience recruiting, teaching, organizing and managing groups.
  • Experience using technology for program delivery, reporting and team‑based communication.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work well in a team and provide effective instruction, support, and marketing for programs.
  • Previous experience working in Extension.
  • Experience disseminating results through scholarly outlets.
  • Experience supervising, leading, and mentoring others.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 lbs.
