Position Overview:

The director provides departmental leadership for Career Services and strategic oversight for Academic Support Programs, both of which directly impact student success and retention goals that support the mission of the University of Idaho. Responsibilities include identifying departmental priorities; enhancing academic and career development of students; performing assessments to determine unit and program effectiveness; supervising coordinators and staff; and collaborating with colleges to collect and analyze post-graduation outcomes to adjust programs and services as needed.

Additionally, the director offers leadership and vision for planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of academic support services, while maintaining financial oversight for all departmental budgets—including state, endowment, grant, gift, and revenue-generating funds—and writing and reviewing contracts, agreements, and grants.

Position Qualifications

Required Experience:

Five years progressive leadership experience

Experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives

Leadership experience managing fiscal budget

Required

Education:

Masters' Degree

Required Other:
Must be eligible for membership in related professional organizations

Ability to work nonstandard business hours which may include mornings, evenings and weekends to meet business needs

Ability to travel as needed regionally, and nationally, for business

Additional Preferred:
Prior higher education leadership experience in student support services areas

Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders

Ability to network and develop collaborative partnerships

Excellent leadership/management skills

Excellent written communication skills
