Clinical Assistant Professor of Criminology
Pay range: $60,100 or higher, commensurate with experience.

Twin Falls, Idaho – remote (Off‑campus).

The Department of Culture, Society and Justice invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor of Criminology starting in August 2026. The role will focus primarily on online course delivery for the University of Idaho, with the expectation of teaching one face‑to‑face course per semester on the College of Southern Idaho campus in Twin Falls.
All specialization areas are considered; emphasis is placed on fields that complement current department strengths. Faculty are encouraged to teach core service courses in the Master of Sciences in Criminology and the undergraduate Criminology program—including Introduction to Criminology, Justice Institutions, Criminological Theory, Research Methods, and Justice Policy Issues—as well as select specialty courses. The appointment also involves contributing to internship supervision, mentorship, and advising for undergraduate and graduate students, and supporting the growing Prison Education Initiative (PEI) program.
Standard teaching load: 3/4 of a full load (seven classes per academic year).
Teaching & AdvisingOnline teaching and campus instruction combined will comprise 84% of the appointment. Outreach, extension, university service & leadership, and scholarship activities will each comprise 8% of the appointment.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law & Society, or a closely related field.
- Experience developing and teaching criminology courses.
- Certification to teach incarcerated students obtained soon after hire.
- Willingness to teach incarcerated students.
- Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law & Society, or a closely related field (a JD does not meet the minimum educational requirements).
- Experience teaching online courses.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at a college or university.
