The Acting Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development manages essential aspects of research and faculty affairs. This includes faculty development and recognition, research and creative activities, grant activities, research contracts, and tenure and promotion processes. The role involves acting as a liaison with the Office of Research and Economic Development and supporting faculty in grant writing initiatives to promote excellence in teaching, scholarship, and outreach within the College of Education and Human Health Services (EHHS).

The Acting Associate Dean also leads the onboarding, development, and mentoring of faculty in EHHS, assists with communication and processes related to faculty recognition and achievements, and works to create a welcoming, and dynamic learning environment for students, staff, and faculty. This position requires effective stewardship of college resources and provides leadership in the development and implementation of the EHHS strategic plan.

Open communication with faculty and staff is crucial. The Acting Associate Dean also serves as the college representative on various college and university-level committees, including governance committees focused on research and faculty development.

This position is open to tenured associate professors and higher within the College of Education and Human Services (EHHS). It is a 6-month appointment that includes a flat-rate administrative stipend of $7,500, which will be provided as additional compensation due to the acting nature of the position. The stipend will not be included in your institutional base salary. The search for this position is being conducted under approved search exceptions due to the urgency of filling the role.

Contingency Description
- This administrative appointment or the administrative portion of the faculty appointment is temporary. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event there is no longer a need for the administrative assignment, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may change this Agreement and remove the administrative salary and/or course release during the contract year and employee may return to their faculty appointment, upon 60 days written notice.

Minimum Education /Degree Required
- Listed degree qualification is required at time of application.

Required Qualifications
- Tenured faculty with rank of tenured or full professor within the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong record of research achievement and innovation, as well as understanding and commitment to excellence in the areas of applied research, extension/outreach, and scholarship

Experience with faculty development and strong understanding of research and creative activity.

Experience with personnel management

Ability to work with academic departments, entities, and other stakeholders across campus.
