GAIN VALUABLE EXPERIENCE TEACHING KIDS ABOUT NATURE! The Outdoor Science Educator will develop/gather nature-based lessons & activities targeting K-5th graders. The position will run for at least 450 hours over a period of 9 months, encompassing both after school days and limited full days during the school year. The lessons developed by the member will be a combination of science exploration, arts & crafts, & games focused on the natural environment.
Most hours will involve creating and implementing these lessons, the remaining hours will be spent supervising students in recreation & STEAM activities & maintaining the school site.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age;
Must be U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident;
Must possess high school diploma or equivalent;
Must be fluent in English;
Must be able to commit to the full term of service;
Must successfully pass fingerprint criminal history background check;
Must have cooperative manner & ability to serve as part of a diverse team;
Must have regular & reliable attendance & dependability.
PREFERRED SKILLS &
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of biology, geology, and/or natural resources;
Experience working w/children grades kindergarten through fifth;
Communicate w/clarity & conciseness to individuals/groups;
Convey respect, assistance & resourcefulness in a friendly manner;
Complete assignments in timely fashion.

Member Activities/Duties:
The Ameri Corps member will plan & lead nature-based activities to fill 2-3 hours per week during the after school program & three to five hours during school year full days. The member will be involved in planning & leading outdoor science field trips during school year full days. During times when the member is not planning or leading nature-based activities, they will: supervise students participating in science, technology, engineering, art, math, & recreation activities.
The member will also assist w/activity cleanup & site maintenance at the end of each program day. Project Location and/or Transportation Needs:
Moscow, are responsible for their own transportation to/from the project location. Dates of Service: 9 months, part-time hours September 2026 - May 2027.
