Position Overview

The Music Events Operations Coordinator position supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of the University of Idaho's nationally recognized music programs and performance events, in the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and the Administration Auditorium Concert Series (ACMS). The position is responsible for coordinating complex performance and educational activities that bring nationally and internationally recognized musicians, educators, and performers to the University of Idaho and the surrounding Palouse community.

The position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, guest artists, university partners, and community members to facilitate performances, workshops, clinics, educational programs, and special events. Responsibilities include coordinating event logistics, supporting artist and participant engagement, facilitating communication among internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that programs are delivered effectively and professionally.

Through its work with the Lionel Hampton School of Music (LHSOM), the position contributes to a comprehensive, nationally competitive music program and supports the School's mission of providing high-quality educational and performance opportunities for collegiate and pre-college students. The position plays an important role in advancing the University's visibility and reputation in music education and performance while strengthening connections between the University and the broader community.

Required

Experience
  • Event management experience, including but not limited to planning, marketing, budgeting, and record keeping
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, developing spreadsheets, graphic design, email, and internet research
  • Balancing competing demands for time and prioritizing workload to meet strict deadlines
  • Maintaining professionalism in high pressure situations
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree
Required Other
  • Work nonstandard hours as needed, including nights and weekends to meet event deadlines
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to meet U ofI driving requirements
Additional Preferred
  • One year planning and producing music and/or artistic events
  • Hiring, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating employees
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of music as a performer, educator, or enthusiast
  • Experience working in a university setting
  • Marketing, social media, advertising, and/or design experience
  • Experience developing procedures and monitoring a budget
  • Experience planning and coordinating contracts
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move up to 40 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time
