POSITION SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - DEAF/HARD OF HEARING - DISTRICT-WIDE - 1.0 FTE (2026/2027 School year only)

STARTING DATE As soon as possible

SALARY SCHEDULE Teacher's Salary Schedule is available on the District website.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide specialized instruction, evaluation, curriculum development, and required documentation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, incorporating American Sign Language (ASL) and other appropriate communication strategies to meet individual student needs. Collaborate with students, families, staff, interpreters, and behavioral development. Supervise and provide directions to instructional assistant paraprofessional staff and Educational Interpreters as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must hold or meet minimum requirements for an Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with an Exceptional Child Generalist K-12 endorsement as well as a Hearing Impaired K/12 endorsement as required by State Law and the State Board of Education. A teaching contract will not be issued until this credential is on file with the Moscow School District.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with the delivery of direct instruction to deaf and hearing impaired students.

  • Rate your ability to plan, organize, and complete required special education documentation, records, and paperwork accurately and within established timelines.
  • Rate your ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, interpreters, related service providers, administration, and other educational professionals to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
  • Rate your ability to establish and maintain fair, consistent standards of student behavior while creating a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Rate your ability to train, mentor, direct, and supervise instructional assistant paraprofessional staff who work with students under your direction.
  • Rate your ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student, family, and educational information.
  • Rate your ability to work independently and demonstrate sound professional judgment while managing the instructional, behavioral, communication, and documentation needs of students
