Summary

As a member of the Hospital's senior management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will participate in the financial and functional decision‑making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the hospital's mission. This role will maintain awareness of changes in healthcare matters that could impact the success of the hospital. The CFO will relocate to the Moscow, Idaho area.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overall financial operations of the acute‑care facility including accounting, budgeting, audits, tax, and other financial planning activities; management of respective department heads.
  • Work with system management to develop and implement policies and procedures, short‑and long‑range goals, objectives and plans.
  • Provide financial leadership to hospital managers, directors and officers that will enlist support, create ownership of goals, and encourage active participation in decisions that impact the hospital.
  • Ensure the hospital meets necessary financial regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute financial expertise in the planning of new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
  • Manage costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and taking action to eliminate non‑value costs in conjunction with the CEO and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization‑wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent the hospital at meetings including medical staff, board of directors and relevant community meetings as needed.
  • Participate in the hospital's monthly operation reviews and corporate office meetings as deemed necessary.
  • Lead the department/team: budgeting, time approvals, staff evaluations and expense approvals.
  • Interact and present to the Board on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, the Board and community.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Critical Access Hospitals and operations management.
  • Demonstrated ability to cope with and manage change, maintain relationships with emotional maturity and self‑motivation.
  • Strategic oversight with an emphasis on financial reporting analysis and cash‑flow management; revenue cycle knowledge and problem‑solving skills.
  • Expense management, public relations abilities, excellent verbal and listening skills.
  • Maintain confidential information concerning personnel, financial or medical matters.
Work Experience, Education, and Certifications
  • Previous CFO level or equivalent experience within a Critical Access Hospital environment required.
  • Previous experience within a non‑profit environment.
  • Minimum 5 years (or equivalent) of progressive managerial experience in a Critical Access Hospital environment.
  • Experience with revenue cycle and a track record of success required.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Master's level education and CPA preferred.
