The position is part‑time for up to 20 hours during Fall and Spring semesters; the job is flexible around your schedule.
Responsibilities- Meet with campus departments and stakeholders to understand their needs and translate those needs into clear touch‑point requests.
- Help prioritize work and contribute to decisions about what gets built first and why.
- Write and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and test plans that guide the development team.
- Plan and carry out testing for new features and changes; verify they meet requirements before release.
- Maintain the MyUI card system, including content, tags, and design, to keep the platform navigable.
- Support communication with the help desk and campus users about changes.
- Provide light support for Banner–related questions and requests.
- Apply outcome‑based product thinking, focusing on the change we want to create for users, not just the features shipped.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Current University of Idaho undergraduate or graduate student with junior, senior, or graduate standing, pursuing a degree in management information systems, computer science, business, design, or a related field.
- Motivated and curious, with a desire to understand how things work and why people need what they need.
- Team player, ready to collaborate with staff and stakeholders, and willing to take real ownership of work.
- Adaptable and able to work effectively when priorities shift and schedules move fast.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, especially when turning people’s needs into actionable plans.
Preferred:
- Experience in product management, project coordination, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the University of Idaho’s Banner system or similar enterprise applications.
- Experience using agile development methodologies.
- Understanding of user experience and design principles.
