Economic Research Analyst​/Junior Data Scientist

Lightcast is seeking an Economic Research Analyst / Junior Data Scientist to join its Professional Services team in Moscow, Idaho. In this role, you will transform client research needs into structured analyses, repeatable workflows, and client-ready outputs grounded in quantitative methods and labor market economics.

• Query, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL

• Build and maintain data pipelines; create indices or composite measures to support custom analyses.
• Use statistical and quantitative methods such as benchmarking
  , correlation
  , and trend analysis to address client questions.
• Translate established approaches into repeatable workflows, test new research approaches, and apply core concepts from labor market economics.
• Create client-ready materials in Excel
  , Power Point , and Word
  , including visualizations and dashboards in Tableau or comparable tools.
• Present research findings to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring communication aligns with what the data supports.
• Use LLM tools to support coding, debugging, documentation, data tasks, dashboard development, and draft deliverables; review and refine outputs for accuracy and quality.
• Stay current on AI tools relevant to labor market research and share effective approaches with the team.
• Deliver project milestones on time, document tools and methods, contribute to internal research and product work, and support proposals and RFP responses.
• Collaborate with consultants, researchers, and analysts as a supportive and empathetic team member.

• 2–4 years of experience in quantitative research, data analysis, or data science.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics

• Experience working with APIs to access, integrate, and analyze data.

• On-site position in Moscow, Idaho requiring five days per week in the office. Candidates must currently live locally or be willing to relocate. Only candidates meeting this condition will be considered.
