The CIRCLES Alliance is a six-state interdisciplinary collaboration focusing on cultivating equitable, culturally sustaining, land-based learning environments and strengthening Indigenous research and education pathways.
OverviewThe College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Cultivating Indigenous Research Communities for Leadership in Education and STEM (CIRCLES) Alliance. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work under Dr. Philip Stevens but will also support Program Principal Investigators in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, and the College of Natural Resources. The focus is on supporting the research aims of the CIRCLES Alliance, particularly the analysis and dissemination of qualitative research examining the experiences of students enrolled in the Certificate in Indigenous Research and Education (CIRE).
The role ensures timely, rigorous, high‑quality data analysis aligned with existing project objectives. A key emphasis is advancing research that supports Indigenous STEM, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, and Tribal Nation-building approaches within K‑12 and higher education contexts. The position will collaborate with interdisciplinary faculty, community, and tribal partners to support reciprocal, sovereignty‑affirming research practices and dissemination.
Support the CIRCLES Alliance research aims by conducting qualitative analysis and disseminating findings. Collaborate with faculty, students, community, and tribal partners to advance Indigenous STEM, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, and Tribal Nation-building research. Provide specialized research capacity to ensure timely, rigorous, high‑quality data analysis and project alignment. Work within a team‑oriented environment to accomplish shared goals.
Qualifications- Experience with qualitative analysis and Indigenous/community‑based research.
- Team‑oriented experience to accomplish shared goals.
- Doctorate in Education, Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Natural Resources, or a related field with a social science focus.
- Experience with land‑based/place‑based Science Education.
- Experience working with Tribal Nations, Native and Indigenous communities, and K‑12 educators in formal or informal contexts.

CompensationSalary: $65,000 per year.
