The position ensures proper operation of HVAC mechanical systems. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to service calls
  • Assist with troubleshooting HVAC systems
  • Test systems for proper operation
  • Diagnose problems and malfunctions
  • Maintain, repair and replace parts and equipment
Qualifications
  • Three years working with HVAC systems, including air handlers, pumps and associated mechanical equipment OR possess a current State of Idaho HVAC Journeyman’s license
  • Experience leading a team of two or more or special projects
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation
  • Be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Maintaining and repairing air handler units, fan coil units, fume hoods and unit heaters
    • Installing commercial air handling equipment and associated ductwork
    • Maintaining pumps, valves, air compressors and electric motors
    • Using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with HVAC mechanical repair and service
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Must be able to:
    • Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time
    • Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts
    • Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Work in confined spaces using equipment and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Work in inclement weather conditions
    • Participate in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test
