Position Overview: The position ensures proper operation of HVAC mechanical systems. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.
Duties may include:
- Respond to service calls
- Assist with troubleshooting HVAC systems
- Test systems for proper operation
- Diagnose problems and malfunctions
- Maintain, repair and replace parts and equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Three years working with HVAC systems, including air handlers, pumps and associated mechanical equipment OR possess a current State of Idaho HVAC Journeyman’s license
- Experience leading a team of two or more or special projects
- None
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
- Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation
- Be at least 18 years of age
- HVAC trade vocational certificate
- Experience in the following areas:
- Maintaining and repairing air handler units, fan coil units, fume hoods and unit heaters
- Installing commercial air handling equipment and associated ductwork
- Maintaining pumps, valves, air compressors and electric motors
- Using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with HVAC mechanical repair and service
- Must be able to:
- Bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time
- Climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts
- Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Work in confined spaces using equipment and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work in inclement weather conditions
- Participate in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test
