HVAC Mechanic II
Position Overview:
The position ensures proper operation of HVAC mechanical systems. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure. Duties may include: responding to service calls, assisting with troubleshooting HVAC systems, testing systems for proper operation, diagnosing problems and malfunctions, maintaining, repairing and replacing parts and equipment, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Experience:
Three years working with HVAC systems, including air handlers, pumps and associated mechanical equipment OR possess a current State of Idaho HVAC Journeyman's license. Experience leading a team of two or more or special projects. Required
Education:
None. Required Other:
Possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles. Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation. Be at least 18 years of age.
Additional Preferred: HVAC trade vocational certificate. Experience in the following areas: maintaining and repairing air handler units, fan coil units, fume hoods and unit heaters, installing commercial air handling equipment and associated ductwork, maintaining pumps, valves, air compressors and electric motors, using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with HVAC mechanical repair and service.
Physical Requirements &
Working Conditions:
Must be able to: bend, stoop and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time, climb and work from ladders, scaffolding and scissor lifts, carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces using equipment and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), work in inclement weather conditions, participate in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test.
