Para educator Generalist - Mini Mavs @ Moses Lake High School

Moses Lake School District 161 Moses Lake High School, Moses Lake, Washington. Shift time is subject to building needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing instruction to and supervising students in a variety of instructional and non‑instructional programs.
  • Perform routine clerical and office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff.
  • Work as part of the teaching team following the lesson plans and guidance of the teacher.
  • Help prepare and/or assemble teaching materials as requested by the teacher.
  • Assist teachers in supervisory tasks as assigned.
  • Assist teachers in administering tests, evaluating, and modifying student work in the context of a lesson.
  • Communicate effectively with people using correct oral and written language.
  • Help pupils with basic fundamentals of reading, mathematics, writing, and self‑help skills.
  • Follow and implement detailed behavior management plans.
  • Use appropriate interventions in handling student misbehavior, including de‑escalation techniques up to therapeutic holds.
  • Take directions and carry them out independently.
  • Demonstrate empathy and awareness of students’ needs.
  • Maintain a calm, patient, and flexible demeanor.
  • Observe and record student behavior and academic performance.
  • Supervise students and maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground.
  • Supervise the movement of children to and from the playground.
  • Vigilantly monitor safety during play and the condition of play equipment.
  • Exercise good judgment and enforce school and district policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintain good rapport with students and teachers.
  • Manage e‑mail via district‑assigned email account.
  • Accept responsibility for assignments and outcomes.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff.
  • Assist students with personal management, including toileting, eating, and other personal hygiene activities.
  • Small group instruction.
  • Supervision during lunch, recess, pick‑up and drop‑off.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Earned 72 college‑level credits, college degree, or can pass the ETS Assessment.
  • Previous experience working with pupils in individual and small group instructional situations.
  • Working knowledge of phonics and training/experience using Journeys.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain/maintain).
  • Experience/training in classroom settings.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to manage large groups of students in an unstructured environment while maintaining safety.
  • Proven record of consistent attendance.
  • Willingness to relocate within district or adjust hours/duties as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to assist students with personal hygiene activities.
Employment Requirements
  • Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Successfully complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators in the first year of employment, and continue to meet future requirements.
