Pay
: $20.27 – $24.93 per hour. Timesheet payments on July 31 and August 31;
June timesheets due by July 6, July timesheets due by August 5.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Earned 72 college‑level credits, a college degree, or able to pass the ETS Assessment.
  • Prior experience working with pupils individually and in small groups.
  • Knowledge of phonics and experience using Journeys.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Experience or training in a classroom setting.
  • Proven ability to complete tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to manage large groups in an unstructured environment while maintaining safety.
  • Consistent attendance record.
  • Willingness to relocate within the district or have hours/duties reassigned as needs change.
  • Compassionate response to students requiring personal‑care assistance, including verbal coaching.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the teaching team by following lesson plans and guidance.
  • Prepare and assemble teaching materials upon request.
  • Assist with supervisory tasks and in administering tests, evaluating, and modifying student work.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Help pupils with basic reading, mathematics, writing, and self‑help skills.
  • Implement behavior‑management plans and appropriate interventions.
  • Use de‑escalation techniques up to therapeutic holds for misbehavior.
  • Follow directions independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate empathy and awareness of student needs.
  • Maintain calmness and patience in challenging situations.
  • Observe and record student behavior and academic performance.
  • Supervise students and maintain a harmonious playground environment.
  • Oversee movement of children to and from the playground.
  • Maintain vigilance for safety of play and equipment.
  • Exercise sound judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records as required.
  • Enforce school and district policies.
  • Build good rapport with students and teachers.
  • Maintain district‑assigned email account and respond promptly.
  • Take responsibility for assignments and outcomes.
  • Collaborate cooperatively with staff and maintain respectful relationships.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; notify supervisor in advance of absences and enter them in the absence management system.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Employment Requirements

  • Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within the first year, complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators provided by the district, as defined in RCW 28A.413.070, and continue meeting ongoing state requirements.
