Associate Faculty - Chemistry

Compensation

Associate Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $987.71 per lecture credit.

• Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full‑time faculty member.
• Meet class times as required by the quarterly schedule, in the required instructional modality.
• Assist students with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
• Maintain frequent communication with students.
• Refer students to appropriate college resources as needed.
• Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports to college personnel when required.
• Maintain student course materials for two quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
• Submit assessment data in consultation with a full‑time faculty member in the department.
• Assist with development, selection, and/or recommend the selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
• Post syllabi quarterly to the portal for each course taught.
• Schedule and hold a minimum of one office hour per week; online or face‑to‑face.
• Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.

• Master's degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree and 18 graduate‑level credits in Chemistry will also be considered.
• Previous teaching experience, or relevant and equitable work experience in the desired field.
• Experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

• Experience teaching at a community college within the previous three years.
• Experience working with non‑traditional students.
• Experience using innovative teaching techniques.
