Position Title
Associate Faculty – Environmental Science
Position OverviewAssociate faculty responsible for preparing and teaching courses in Environmental Science, reporting to the Dean of Academic Transfer and Allied Health, and working closely with the Math and Science Division Chair and other faculty and staff. This position is open until filled.
CompensationQuarterly contracts based on $987.71 per lecture credit.
Responsibilities- Prepare and teach assigned courses according to the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full‑time faculty member.
- Meet required class times as per the quarterly schedule and instructional modality.
- Assist students with course‑related questions and maintain frequent communication.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources as needed.
- Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports when required.
- Maintain student course materials for two quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
- Submit assessment data in consultation with a full‑time faculty member.
- Assist with development, selection, and/or recommendation of instructional materials for courses taught.
- Post syllabi quarterly to the portal for each course taught.
- Schedule and hold a minimum of one office hour per week, online or face‑to‑face.
- Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.
- Master's degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and 18 graduate‑level credits in Environmental Science or an appropriately related field will also be considered.
- Previous teaching experience, or relevant and equitable work experience in the desired field.
- Experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Experience teaching at a community college within the past three years.
- Experience working with non‑traditional students.
- Experience using innovative teaching techniques.
