Para educator Librarian at Lakeview Terrace Elementary – Moses Lake School District #161

Job Details

Full‑time, 6.50 hours per day, 180 workdays per year. Shift time is subject to building needs. Starting date September 2, 2026.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 72 college‑level credits, a college degree, or ability to pass the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Assessment.
  • Previous experience working with pupils in individual and small‑group instructional settings.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of Google Suite, email, and familiarity with library setup, shelving system, and Follet Destiny inventory system.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bend/stoop to shelve books and assist with inventory.
  • Elementary school experience preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Essential Job Functions
  • Meet performance expectations outlined in the Moses Lake School District Para educator Evaluation.
  • Assist students with 1:1 Chromebook issues, replace computers/chargers, and submit tech tickets for repairs.
  • Work with the Tech Department on tech tickets, Chromebook issues, and student accounts.
  • Monitor copy machine, laminator, and paper supply in the library for teacher usage.
  • Repair books as needed.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently without constant or direct supervision.
  • Maintain positive relationships with supervisory staff, teachers, building employees, students, parents, and community members.
  • Work effectively with groups or individual students with or without supervision of certificated staff.
  • Use appropriate interventions in handling student misbehavior.
  • Demonstrate empathy and awareness of student needs.
  • Remain flexible, calm, and patient in challenging situations.
  • Accurately maintain data and records.
  • Learn and implement new procedures with attention to detail.
  • Catalog, shelve, and check out books.
  • Proctor district and state testing and assist classroom teachers with testing.
  • Order new books consistent with adopted curriculum.
  • Daily shelving of books; keep the library neat and orderly.
  • Research information for students on Destiny program.
  • Use the Accelerated Reader program or Lexile system.
  • Attend district library meetings.
  • Follow specific instructions promptly and accurately, performing duties with a positive attitude.
  • Follow a duty (student supervision) schedule as assigned.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, teachers in shared decision‑making activities and services.
  • Complete ongoing training.
  • Work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision.
  • Read to students aloud.
  • Supervise students inside and outside the library as scheduled and as needed during inclement weather.
  • Exercise good judgment.
  • Enforce school and district policies.
  • Maintain good rapport with students and teachers.
  • Maintain district‑assigned email account; read and respond to messages regularly.
  • Accept responsibility for assignments and outcomes.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff, maintaining positive, respectful relationships and engagements.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements
  • Criminal history clearance through Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Within the first year, complete the Washington State Fundamental Course of Study for Paraeducators as defined in RCW 28A.413.070, and continue to meet future requirements as mandated by the state.
